Customised Venue Services
We understand that different retreat leaders are looking for different things from a retreat venue. Some people come with their own team and require only a “bare hire”. Other people look for more services and assistance from us and our team both before and during their retreat. Because of this we do not have a “one size fits all” approach and we customise our proposal to each retreat leader’s needs.
We can certainly provide a beautiful, fully set-up space and support in the background to allow you to move straight in, focus fully on your clients and on the flow you want to create for your retreat experience. We run our own series of wellness retreats at Manoir Mouret and know what it takes to successfully hold space for guests on retreat.
We are open all year. We advertise the pool as open from May to September as, despite the pool heating, it can become too cold to swim outside these months. We take a view every year on when to open and close the pool depending on actual conditions.
For winter retreats, the property is all centrally heated. For the heat of the summer several of the key communal spaces, including the studio and dining barn, have air conditioning. All bedrooms have fans and a few have air conditioning.
Duration of Rentals
We have weekly Saturday to Saturday bookings during the high season (July & August) and are inevitably booked up early during the summer school holidays. Outside this period our minimum rental period is 3 nights and we have much more flexibility in relation to start and finish days.
We will welcome you from 2pm on the 1st day of your rental and the property must be vacated by 10am on the final day. If you need different access times please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your timing but this is dependent on preceding and/or following bookings (if any).
Travel to Mouret
Mouret is about an hour north of Toulouse which has several flights a day from different UK airports including from London and Bristol. Flights also come from Manchester to Carcassonne which is just under 2 hours by car from Mouret although not every day. There are less flights from the UK to Toulouse in the winter and shoulder months than in Spring and Summer.
Transfer options from Toulouse airport:
Hiring a car or mini bus - many major car hire companies are based at Toulouse airport.
Taxi - taxis in France are expensive and a one-way transfer from Toulouse airport can cost around 240€ depending on time of day, number of passengers etc. For a group of guests this might be a good option. We know a number of taxi drivers including those with 7 seater vehicles and can help you arrange transfers.
Public transport - good public transport from Toulouse airport to Gaillac station exists and is an option many of our guests use
There is a shuttle bus from Toulouse airport to Toulouse Matabiau central train station which costs about 8€ each way.
A taxi from the airport to the station takes about 30 mins and costs between 30€ to 45€ depending on traffic.
The direct train from Toulouse Matabiau to Gaillac (our nearest station) takes around 45 mins, the fare is about 10€.
There is no taxi rank at Gaillac station, so taxis need to be pre booked and cost around 25€ from the station to Manoir Mouret.
We would be happy to give assistance with travel arrangements.
Property Set Up
We have 12 bedrooms 10 of which are en suite and 2 share a large bathroom. 5 of the bedrooms can be configured with either twin beds or a super king bad. Please see our Accommodation page for full details of the available accommodation.
When you arrive, the property will be set up for the agreed number of guests with the bedrooms configured in accordance with your needs as advised at least 2 weeks before the start of the rental period.
In addition, to the accommodation shown in Accommodation there is the Studio which is a separate self-contained studio with a king bed and en suite shower room. This can be used for people working at the retreat. It also makes a good private space for a massage/treatment room.
All bedroom linen is provided as are bathroom towels and pool towels (when the pool is open). We do provide toiletries – hand soaps, Dove shower cream (or equivalent) and shampoo. If you are supplying your own products just let us know and we won’t duplicate products. There are hairdryers in each bedroom. We can, for an extra per guest charge, provide a retreat package of robes, spa slippers & Occitan bathroom products.
We understand that great food is at the heart of a retreat. We have a large vegetable garden and use much of the produce in our cooking at Mouret. Guests are welcome to share the potager produce.
We have a separate, fully equipped catering kitchen and an adjoining barn dining room. We are happy for you to bring your own chef or we can introduce you to a local cook for you to work with direct.
Alternatively, the Mouret team being me, my husband Jack and local cooks we regularly work with, can provide all or an element of the food for your retreat. We focus on nourishing healthy food using local seasonal produce and we can provide sample costed menus. We are not personally vegetarian or vegan but cook and eat mainly plant based food.
Commercial Kitchen & Dining Space
Where you organise your own catering, there is a small additional charge for the use of the commercial kitchen. This covers use of the kitchen space, facilities, utility consumables (gas/electricity/water) and end of rental cleaning costs (although we do expect a visiting chef to leave the kitchen as they found it). No food products will be provided in the kitchen and all food and waste must be removed at the end of the rental. The adjoining dining space (and cloakroom) is also included with a table and chair configuration for the group (to be advised 2 weeks before the start of the rental period).
Assistance & Maintenance
We, or our gardener, will periodically look after the gardens and pool during your stay. We do not live at Mouret but close by and will be available to answer questions and help resolve any problems. We will look after the 2 resident cats which live outside.
We have lived here for over 10 years and have good local knowledge and contacts so if you need ideas for other activities or trips or information about local restaurants etc. we can certainly help.
Booking Terms & Conditions & Deposit
In order to confirm a booking, we require a Rental Agreement to be put in place between us and a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the rental price.
The Rental Agreement does require you to put in place a contract with your retreat guests who will be staying at Mouret to cover health & safety, house rules, insurance and liability. We can send you the Rental Agreement if you are interested in taking your enquiry further.
We do require that you or a member of your retreat team is present at all times at the property when guests are there, including overnight.
The pricing varies depending on the time of year (high/mid/low season), duration of the rental and number of people staying at Mouret. Our low season is from 1 October to 30 April (excluding the Christmas and New Year weeks which are high season). Mid-season is May, June and September.
The use of the Studio bedroom for a retreat professional is included in the prices. In addition to the stated rental prices there is a Taxe de Sejour, currently 1,30€ per adult per night, which needs to be paid to us on behalf of the Government.
Once you have booked Mouret we can provide you with professional photography of the property to support your marketing of your retreat here.
